چکیده
This paper presents a K-band CMOS cross-coupled pair voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) that utilizes the varactor-only capacitor network. The proposed circuit features low parasitics and compact network, such varactor in analog tuning path directly affects oscillation frequency with large gain of VCO, digital results minimal noise sources, thus achieving phase for automotive FMCW radar application. VCO was designed using TSMC 65 nm technology, post-layout simulation show stable across 18–19.2 GHz, minimum −105.9 −128 dBc/Hz at 1- 10-MHz offset frequencies while dissipating 21 mW power from 1 V supply. Furthermore, no notable variations are observed range. It reveals figure merit (FOM) −178.3 array occupying small chip area.

A 2.4 GHz Voltage Controlled Oscillator
Voltage controlled oscillators are essential building blocks in communication systems and are used as local oscillators to up and down-convert signals in an RF mixer. Despite the continuous improvement in the state of the art of CMOS VCO’s, they still remain the most critical blocks of RF transceivers. The most important parameters of a VCO are phase noise, power consumption and frequency tunin...
